Our team

We’re not your typical accounting team. we’re young, vibrant and dedicated to the work.

Nathan Haglund

Nathan began his career with a successful stretch in the banking sector as a Business Manager. After fifteen years of working alongside business owners, he made the switch to accounting, opting for a more hands-on approach to business mentorship.

Nathan became a Chartered Accountant in 2017 and has held Partner positions at two local accounting firms. In 2020, Nathan made the decision to go out on his own, forming Haglund Consulting and setting up shop on Queen Street in Kuripuni.

Nathan’s successful work with clients over his career has carved out a reputation of trustworthiness and giving real, tangible advice.

When he isn’t working for his clients, Nathan is spending time with his family, tending to his lifestyle block or riding his motorcycle.

Abby Ewen

After completing her accounting study, Abby worked as a Business Analyst at the esteemed firm Ernst & Young. It was here that she mastered her craft and became a Chartered Accountant soon thereafter. Abby then moved to the UK, where she worked for London Underground as an Investment Appraisal Analyst before eventually moving back to the Wairarapa.

Abby has worked alongside Nathan for the last ten years, is an integral part of his accounting team and a great coach to junior staff. Her clients enjoy her technical expertise, her unwavering work ethic, and her friendly nature.

Abby’s time outside of work is spent with her husband Hamish and their young daughter.

Daniel Childs

Daniel grew up in Masterton, where he studied NCEA accounting at Wairarapa College. Daniel was awarded Top Accounting Scholar in 2016, and found himself working at a local accounting firm during university breaks as well as a financial administrator for a restaurant.

Once he completed his commerce degree, Daniel worked as a consultant for a software development company based out of Australia where he led a team implementing accounting systems. The outbreak of Covid-19 saw him return to the Wairarapa, where he began work for Nathan Haglund.

Daniel is a huge advocate for modernising the accountant/business-owner relationship, and spends a lot of his time coaching and mentoring his clients to achieve their goals.

Eleina Heggie

office manager

Eleina came on board as an Office Manager during the transition to Haglund Consulting. Having initially grown up in Blenheim, Eleina has worked in many different roles in her career including managing an indoor sports centre, as a personal trainer and most recently as team leader at a local pharmacy.

This experience has given her the skillset to work with a wide range of people from all different backgrounds. Eleina pairs her incredible work ethic, personable skills and her eye for detail as our Payroll Administrator and Office Manager.

Eleina spends her time outside work with her three very active and busy boys, playing sport, renovating her house, or spending time outdoors with her chocolate lab ‘Luna’.

Debt collection officer

Percy – short for perseverance – is our office dog. After being rescued as an abandoned puppy, Percy has enjoyed the warmth and relative quiet of our firm. He is an impeccable Debt Collection Officer and enjoys pats from any client willing to give him the time.

When he isn’t following up late payments, Percy enjoys walks around Henley lake, and has taken a keen interest in chewing furniture.
